This Week's Weather Outlook for Rogers & NWA

Northwest Arkansas is seeing unseasonably mild conditions this Christmas week. As of December 22, we're experiencing cloudy skies with temperatures around 55°F during the day, feeling much warmer than recent days. Looking ahead through December 28:

  • Christmas Week Highlights: Mostly cloudy to partly cloudy skies, with highs in the mid-50s to low 60s early in the week, possibly reaching 62°F on some days. Lows dipping into the 40s overnight, with a slight chance of showers mid-week.
  • Winds from the north/northwest at 5-10 mph, occasionally gusting higher.
  • No major storms, snow, or freezing precipitation expected this week-Great news for holiday travel and outdoor decorations!

This milder weather is a nice break, but remember that Arkansas winters can shift quickly. Stay tuned to local forecasts for any updates.

Holiday Roofing Maintenance Tips

The holidays bring extra weight and activity to your roof-think Christmas lights, decorations, and even Santa's sleigh (in theory!). Here are some quick tips to keep your roof in top shape during this festive time:

  • Inspect Holiday Lights and Decorations: If you've strung lights along your gutters or roof edges, ensure clips (not nails or staples) are used to avoid puncturing shingles. Heavy icicle lights or inflatables can strain gutters-check for sagging and clear any debris to prevent ice dams if temperatures drop later.
  • Clear Gutters Before Any Rain: With a chance of showers this week, make sure gutters and downspouts are free of leaves and holiday debris. Clogged gutters can lead to water backup and potential leaks.
  • Watch for Wind Damage: Mild winds are forecast, but loose shingles from prior storms can lift. Do a quick visual check from the ground for any missing or curled shingles.
  • Attic Ventilation Check: Holiday baking and gatherings increase indoor humidity. Proper attic ventilation prevents moisture buildup that could lead to mold or ice dams in colder snaps.
  • Post-Holiday Roof Inspection: After the festivities, schedule a professional inspection. Winter storms can follow mild spells, and early detection of issues saves money.
